Relax at Mere Road Retreat, a quiet escape perfectly positioned near the lake! | House in Taupō

This is a private, sunny, peaceful and centrally located 3 bedroom home in Taupō. Enjoy 2 outdoor areas (one with an outdoor bath!). A fantastic location, you are a 7 min walk from the Lakefront, 20 min walk to town, 30 min walk to Two Mile Bay Sailing Club, 5 min walk to the Mole & Chicken Pub and 3 min from the local playground. The house has 2 x Queen beds and 1 x King Single (with a single trundler bed underneath that can be set up on request).
Some of our favourite things to do in Taupō include....
- Walking / Hiking - A gentle walk along the Great Lake Pathway (Lion's Walk) offers spectacular views across Lake Taupo to the peaks of Mt Tongariro, Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Ruapehu. A hike up Mt Tauhara requires more energy but you'll be rewarded with 360 degree views. Otherwise a short drive to spa park and then take a 120 minute (return) walk to Huka Falls.
- Market Central - Every Sunday, 9am - 1pm at Northcroft Reserve. Live music, coffee, food and 90+ stalls
- An evening swim is just a 5-7 minute walk down Mere Road to the lakes edge. If you’d like to soak in the hot water before plunging into the cold, head left along the lakes edge for another minute or so to one of the local hot springs
- The Two Mile Bay Sailing Club is Taupō’s lakefront local. Only 2km from Mere Road retreat, you can head there for morning coffee, an easy lunch, dinner or drinks. Enjoy live music every Thursday, Friday and Sunday from 5.30pm
- The Mole & Chicken is just 450 metres up around the corner (via Henry Hill and Rokino Roads). A great spot for a family dinner, drinks with a view, watch sports on the big screen or enjoy views from the deck. During winter the fire will be blazing.
- Coffee!! Replete Cafe & Store or Sacred Grounds are our go-to’s. If you want to grab a coffee on the go or while you are out walking then the Steaming Bean coffee cart on the Lakes edge is just around the corner (On Lake Terrace between Mere and Pataka Roads).
The space
The Kitchen: In the kitchen you'll find a full size oven, fridge / freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, Nespresso machine, crockpot, toastie maker, magic bullet, washer / dryer as well as a large selection of kitchenware, platters etc... There is also a coat rack and a small kitchen table that seats 4. Complimentary Tea & Coffee
Dining Room / Lounge: The Dining table seats 6 with a side buffet full of board games. On a cold day snuggle up on the couch in front of the fire watching the smart TV (bring your own logins for netflix, sky sports etc...)
Bathrooms: For convenience there is a second separate toilet in addition to the main bathroom. The main bathroom has a shower only, no bath.
Heating: There is a fireplace in the lounge. A heat pump in the hallway heats all the rooms. HRV, wool carpet and double glazing means this house is warm and dry in Winter.
Bedrooms: The main bedroom opens up onto the deck and includes a Queen Size bed and a cabinet loaded with books to read. Bedroom two has a Queen Size bed. Bedroom three has a King Single with a Single Trundle Bed underneath (can be set up on request).
Outdoor Spaces: The back deck / courtyard has a brand new, large masport BBQ. Seating for 2 - perfect for a morning coffee - and an outdoor bath which runs hot & cold water. The front deck is a suntrap with plenty of space to sit on the outdoor table or along the front steps. There is a secure storage shed around the back - plenty of room for bikes, SUP's or any other sporting equipment you bring with you.
Guest access
Guests have full access to the property. The key is available in the lockbox, instructions provided on day of arrival. There is enough off street parking for 2 vehicles behind the entrance gate which is up a driveway. The garage is not for guest use.
Other things to note
This is a private and quiet back section surrounded by permanent residents. Please respect them and our quiet times of 10pm to 7am. Strictly no parties.
Only guests who are booked to stay at Mere Road Retreat are allowed on site, unless by prior arrangement.
No Smoking or Vaping inside. Outside smokers please remove your butts.
