We offer excellent comfortable accommodation, a friendly welcome and optional services such as private dining and on-site holistic therapies, both of which many guests have found to be amazing and have commented to this effect. This combination is what makes us so successful winning repeat business over 10 years and making friends of our guests. Now we are offering exclusive use of the swimming pool. LeRaphael is a converted farm building. No ordinary gite, It is light, full of character with original features and authentic charm. It is comfortable, spacious and well equipped. Many guests on arrival are impressed and say that the photo's although good do not do it justice. This year there have been many upgrades to furnishings and fittings and all the paintwork has been refreshed giving a true home from home feel. The garden is of a significant size with excellent views over fields towards a river. The terrace is shaded by a pergola covered with perfumed honeysuckle. LeRaphael sleeps x4 persons comfortably, but if your party are up to x6 people we can accommodate x2 in private space next door in L'Oceana.
L'Oceana is a separate quality private studio with rustic charm & its own courtyard garden. L'Oceana is available to book as extended accommodation alongside LeRaphael for family/friends/larger groups up to a maximum of x6 persons, (when staying in both properties). Discount is always offered when booking the two facilities together. Pricing for L'Oceana is available on application. The cottage is all on one level so easy to move around for children and the less able. The heated pool is reached through a gate & is fitted with a safety alarm to ensure child safety. Bars & restaurants are close by at St Paul Lizonne or just 2km away at St Severin where there is also a Spar, bank, pharmacy and coffee shop/cafe. Notably also an award winning Boulangerie with sumptuous cakes. Riberac with its famous market & Supermarkets is a 10 minute drive away. The local area has many delightful canal/lake walks and the region has many attractions within easy reach for days out. We provide a welcome pack of fresh produce on arrival. At LeRaphael and L'Oceana it is the attention to detail that we feel sets us apart and why we have been so successful. Guest feedback has been excellent & many have said that they have never had such a relaxing holiday in such beautiful surroundings. Some reviews are as below. Launched in 2015 is Cassofiel, Maries Log cabin, a real added advantage of a stay at Lemarielle. It is a well-being and treatments centre providing our guests with the option to partake of Aromatherapy, Reiki and Personal Training, the perfect place to relax & rejuvenate. Many guests have opted for the services available & have found them to be highly beneficial. Cassofiel, launched in 2015 is Maries Log cabin. Here on offer are a range of treatments & well being programmes including Reiki, Pilates, Aromatherapy, Meditation, Aquatherapy, Personal Fitness, Life coaching & Personal Development. These can be requested during your stay & can be tailored to suit. We can even tailor your week to suit to include personal well-being sessions and itineraries are now available outside of the July/August peak holiday weeks. These are priced dependant upon group size. if this appeals please do ask, we are here to help.

The locale is perfect for cyclists too and If you are 'house hunting', we are geographically well positioned. September and October were glorious months. We are also registered with specialist sites for accommodation for outdoor activities such as walking and birdwatching.

Coast/Beach:
We are about 90 minutes plus drive from the Atlantic coast at Royan or La Rochelle. However, Lac Jemaye, approximately 25 minutes away has a lovely man made beach and is ideal for safe family swimming and similarly Etang Vallier by Chalais. The award winning Aubeterre also has a beach on the river and childrens play area at less than a 15 minute drive.

Travel:
The nearest airport is Bergerac, about an hours drive. Bordeaux is also within easy reach although a slightly longer drive. Limoges provides an alternative & although it takes longer ~2 hours, it is a very pretty drive.
The nearest train station with links to Paris/UK is Chalais,~20km. The drive from the southern channel ports takes ~7 hours, perhaps a couple of hours longer from the tunnel. A car realistically is essential for a stay here as the area is very rural and without public transport

Distances:
Restaurant Lavieille Maison is a short walk. St Severin is 1.5km with a Spar shop and Hotel de Paix. La Licorne restaurant at Lusigniac is not far. Riberac 11km, a bustling market town with a great atmosphere. Aubterre 10km, won awards as one of the prettiest villages in France. Sit in the square with a drink or fine dining at Hostellerie du Perigord. Brantome 35km, Venice of the north. Very attractive with lots of good restaurants. Perigueux 40km, the capital with the old town and architecture.

Notes: For stays at LeRaphael we provide a welcome pack to get you started typically comprising of a bottle of regional wine, tea/coffee, butter, cheese, jam, sugar, eggs, bread and fruit juice.
In L'Oceana we provide a complimetary bottle of regional wine and nibbles.
There is an award winning Boulangerie/Patisserie at St Severin that sell the most wonderful cakes, both to look at and to eat! Once tempted, you will be back for more.
A visit to St Emilion is a must, it is full of charm and character and makes for a splendid day out with a lunch at one of the many restaurants. Or visit a Wine cave and amble down the cobbled streets.
The Cognac houses of the Charente are close enough for an easy days visit as are the cave paintings at Villars, (close to Brantome). The Dordogne valley with its numerous prehistoric sites are a long days outing. Lac Jemaye is a huge fresh water lake with swimming beaches and pedalos and hectares of forest walks. There is no charge to access the lake and facilities and picnics are recommended. There are canoes and Kayaks for hire locally - a really fun way to potter down the river.
