Spend the day on Lake Chatuge with a boat or personal watercraft rental from a local marina or launch your own from nearby public access. Want to immerse yourself in nature in the Nantahala National Forest? Bring your mountain bikes and ride the first-class trails at Jackrabbit Mountain (also great for hiking and dog-friendly) less than 5 minutes from the property. Fires Creek Recreation Area (25-minute drive) is another Western NC local favorite for hiking with picturesque views, swimming, and trout fishing. On the GA side, take a 30-minute drive to a waterfall hike via the High Shoals Falls Trail or make the 45-minute drive to Alpine Helen, GA for a taste of Bavaria in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We love the #lakelife around here as well as the majestic mountains. So much to do and see right in town. We have a handy guidebook in the house full of places to eat, things to do, shopping, hiking and waterfall trails... Wineries abound; they’re everywhere! And a short 25 min drive to Helen for tubing or zip lining.
There are several excellent boat rental places in the area! We use Lake Chatuge Marine, Young Harris Water Sports, Boundary Waters... The fellas will help you out! All kinds of water toys too like jet skis, standup paddle boards, kayaks.
Hike or drive to the apex of Bell Mountain, which overlooks the lake below and provides picturesque mountain views. Visit Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia. Trailheads of the Appalachian Trail, which spans from Georgia to Maine, are less than 10 miles from this home.

Black Bear Cabin is a spacious 3-bedroom 3 bath home. Enjoy private space with a bedroom and a bath on each floor. The master bedroom is a Queen on the 3rd floor with its own private balcony and private bath. Main floor has a Queen bedroom with sliders going out to the deck and a shared bathroom. Gather the family in the dining room for meals that you've whipped up in the fully appointed kitchen. Cozy up with your favorite book in front of the gas fireplace. Grab a fresh cup of coffee and breathe in the fresh air on the wraparound deck, or soak in the hot tub after a full day of hiking or a day at the lake and let the fall foliage blow you away. Downstairs holds the 3rd Queen bedroom and a shared bath. The door from the game room will lead to out to the hot tub. So come sit back and relax and enjoy the view.
